VENTURE into the great outdoors!

With over 6000ha of open parks and conservation areas it’s no wonder Ipswich is starting to become the home of so many outdoor recreation and endurance events.

From January to November the region delivers up a season of outdoor events encouraging adventure enthusiasts to venture to Ipswich for cycling, mountain biking and trail running, as well as family friendly outdoor events across the city.

The Ipswich Trail Run series is a community event leading participants through one of South East Queensland’s most beautiful nature refuges! The 3 locations that make up the series include Hidden Vale Adventure Park (Round 1 – 31st January – Short 5.45km , Long 12.75km), OHV Stockyards (Round 2 – 14th February), Bubbling Springs, Grandchester (Round 3 – 14th March). Distances to suit the whole family.

Do you want to be a duathlete? Do you want to be a TUFFKID? Then take the opportunity to experience the Ipswich City Rotary TUFFKIDZ mini triathlon series. These events are specifically designed for all children in Prep to High school who want to be a duathlete for a day and a registered TUFFKID.

The ‘MERIDA Hidden Vale 24HR’ is a Solo, Team Relay and Kids Mountain Biking event starting at 12pm Saturday and finishing at 12pm Sunday. Riders compete for medals, prizes and bragging rights. It’s a weekend filled with camaraderie, activities and fun that you’ll never forget!

Wild West Walloon has a friendly family atmosphere with a category for everyone, from beginner to elite athletes, as well as children. Catering for all levels of riders, all grades race on the same track. To race you just need a current Auscycling licence or a day licence. The Scenic Rim Trail Running Series offers four challenging and highly rewarding events with Round 3 hosted at Ivory’s Rock in Ipswich. Run one event or run them all and be in the running for series champion (see the FAQ’s). You don’t need to be an elite athlete to enter the Scenic Rim Trail Running Series – the long and short-distance events are open to seasoned runners and first timers alike. There are also 5km introductory distances for those who are new to the sport. No matter which distance you choose, the welcoming and family-oriented atmosphere will ensure you make it to the finish line wanting more!
