Beard and 'stache competition

Anyone over 18 can participate , with free entry, nominate your bearded friend, partner or relative. Prizes will be awarded for each category, with the highest award going to the entrant who recreates one of Ipswich’s classic beards.

Categories: Moustache, Full Beard, Creative and Classic Ipswich.

You must be present on the day of Sunday, 3 September 2023 for a chance to be selected as winner in one of the competition categories.


Who can enter: All members of the public who are over 18 years of age. Must have facial hair.

Entries will be judged in four categories:
Moustache – Distinguished by having hair that grows only above the mouth.
Full beard –  
Includes moustache and beard connecting from ear to ear.
Creative / Classic Ipswich– Anything that looks like a beard or moustache goes. Get weird! OR recreate a classic beards of Ipswich gentleman including The McLeod, Hancock, Foote and the Goleby, pictured below.

How many winners will be chosen? There will be one winner and one runner up in each category.

How and when will winners be informed? Judging of the winners will take place at Bikes Beards and BBQ’s, Tulmur Place, Nicholas Street Precinct on Sunday 3 September 2023. Winners will be announced between 11.00 am – 1.00 pm.
