Chasing Our Past: Writing History
Join Ipswich Libraries Picture Ipswich Digital Archivist and historian Melanie Rush in conversation with historians Dr Toni Risson and Dr Ana Stevenson as they discuss research techniques and approaches to writing family and local history.
Dr Toni Risson is a storyteller and a cultural historian who has penned everything from children’s picture books to a doctorate on the magic of lollies. An expert of the Greek café phenomenon, Toni curated Meet Me at the Paragon for the State Library of Queensland (2019-2020), and her book Brisbane’s Greek Cafes: A Million Malted Milks was a finalist in the 2019 Queensland Literary Awards.
Dr Ana Stevenson is a feminist historian at the University of Southern Queensland and managing editor of VIDA: Blog of the Australian Women’s History Network. The author of academic books and journal articles about women and social movements in Australia, South Africa, and the United States, she has also written for media outlets such as Aeon, The Conversation, and The Washington Post.
