The Gathering

Starts 15th May

This year’s The Gathering was set to take place at the Ipswich Turf Club on Sunday 24th May. The Gathering brings the wider community together in celebration of Celtic music, culture and performance.

The event typically includes highland dancing, Celtic music, strong man and woman competitions, Scottish food and much more.

You might not be able to attend this year, but we will bring a traditional Celtic experience direct to your home with a fun augmented reality experience, Celtic musical performances and haggis inspired recipes.

*This recipe contains the use of alcohol which when used in cooking creates a large flame. It is recommend for safety reasons, only adults try this at home.

  • 1 packet of your favourite corn chips
  • 1 Haggis
  • 1/2 an onion
  • 1 shot of single malt whisky
  • 1 cup of cream

Boil the Haggis for 30-40 minutes in a large saucepan. Note that the haggis itself is already cooked so you are simply heating it up. It is best to let it simmer rather than rapidly boil to ensure the Haggis does not bust out of the bag.

  • Finely dice up 1/2 an onion and sauté in a hot pan with a drizzle of oil.
  • Once brown add a shot of single malt whisky. Please ensure you stand back as the. whisky will flame. Allow the alcohol to burn off, leaving the flavour infused with the onion.
  • Add 1 cup of cream and allow to reduce and thicken on a low heat (approximately 3 minutes).

  • Prepare your finished dish by layering a bowl with your favourite corn chips.
  • Place the Haggis on top of the corn chips and finish off by pouring on the Whisky Sauce.
  • Depending on how you like your nachos you can also add cheese, guacamole or salsa.
