COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS EVENTS

Join in on a number of Christmas celebrations across the City of Ipswich this festive season.
From outdoor cinemas, Christmas carnivals and a disco, there is something for everyone.

The Twilight Santa Train

Saturday 2 December
4.00 pm and 6.00 pm
The Queensland Pioneer Steam Railway

Take a trip back in time with our 100 year old carriage’s lights flickering on the varnished woodwork as the summer sun and stretching shadows play through the trees. Meet Santa at Swanbank Station on your arrival and have a listen to the wonderful sounds of the iconic Ipswich Orpheus Chorale. Hauled by either Bubba or Kilrie, these trips book out exceptionally fast so get in quickly.

Marburg Christmas carnival

Saturday 2 December
4.00 pm – 8.00 pm
Marburg Showgrounds
45-55 Queen Street, Marburg

Experience Christmas in the country with face painting, an animal farm, pony rides and fireworks at. A variety of food vendors and market stalls will be on offer, including barista coffee and a bar. Santa has a free gift for children in primary school and under at 7.30 pm.

It’s A Wonderful Life: Live Radio Play

Swich Up Productions and Ipswich Civic Centre present one of the most inspirational and loved Christmas stories – ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’. Set in a 1940s recording studio, this live radio play is the warm hug we can’t wait to give our loved ones.

Ulysses CLub annual ipswich toy run

Wooden Tree Stack Workshop

Use real tools and wooden offcuts to build your own wooden tree during this hands-on workshop led by experienced makers from Make+Meld. Display your tree any time of the year as a fun decoration for your room – then add your own festive ornaments at Christmas time!

You will be welcomed with a sparkling wine followed by a tiered food presentation and over 20 varieties of single estate tea to choose from all under the olive trees. The event will span over 2 hours accompanied by soft music in the open garden, each ticket holder will receive a Christmas gift to take home.
