Allday is known for being nobody but himself. After a string of successful self-released singles, EPs and mixtapes, the LA-via-Melbourne Australian rapper dropped his debut album, ‘Startup Cult’.

The record landed him a number 3 spot on the ARIA Charts – falling behind to only SIA and Ed Sheeran – and spawned hit singles in ‘Right Now’ and ‘You Always Know The DJ’, and caught the ear of seasoned tastemakers like Sway Calloway, Complex, and Pigeons & Planes.

It’s safe to say that Startup Cult has fixed Allday firmly in the hearts of music lovers: the LP scooped up over 25 million streams and sold over 20,000 units just at home. Its success has seen Allday headline festivals, tour the USA and completely sell out multiple Australian tours in a snap.

A couple of features (Troye Sivan, Asta) and a mixtape or two later, and Allday’s latest full-length is Speeding – with ‘Sides’, ‘Raceway’ and the incredible ‘In Motion’ lifted from the recent release and setting off sparks of excitement amongst his 500,000+ social media followers. Another top 10 chart debut and a huge sold out album tour that took in concert halls like Festival Hall and Luna Park gives some indication of just how big the Allday juggernaut has become.

DJ Kritty

Kritty is a proud Wirdajuri woman living on Gubbi Gubbi country (Sunshine Coast). Zookeeper by day, DJ by night, she is known for her vibrant and genre-bending sets (and well documented love for Kylie Minogue). Specialising in the colourful underground of club music, Kritty cut her teeth as an 18 year old playing club nights all over Sydney and Brisbane. When she’s not playing her own sets, she can be seen on festival circuits around the country as the tour DJ for Kota Banks.

Some of Kritty’s biggest gigs include opening for SOPHIE, Sam Gellaitry, LE1F, Club X, Mallrat, and Nina Las Vegas to name a few (still waiting on that Kylie gig). Last year had sets at MODE Festival, Spilt Milk, and Horizon Festival. She has also had mixes featured on triple j and fBI Radio. Guaranteed to lift the energy every time she steps up to the decks, Kritty is a lil pocket rocket ready for lift off.

Reflective, compelling, and utterly captivating, First Nation singer-songwriter and visual creator GLVES weaves impactful tales of her life, exploring her inner emotional landscape to find healing and self-love.

Driven by a deep appreciation of her Kaurareg, Fijian and Polynesian heritage, and a heartfelt longing to further connect with her culture, the Lutruwita-born, Meanjin-residing storyteller harmoniously combines electronic elements, soothing vocal loops, and organic instruments, to create a blend of after-dark and other-worldly, cinematic Blak Folktronica.

With a sense of beauty, ritual, and reverence, GLVES unites her music across all visual mediums including photography, music videos, and social media to showcase her artistic vision; eternally searching for an understanding of her history and the heritage, culture, bloodlines, and stories in which she has descended.

Hope D

Brisbane’s brightest queer breakout artist since The Veronicas, Hope D’s camera roll looks something like this: nuggets, nuggets, bagel, girlfriend, Falls Festival crowd shot, ramen, dogs, dogs, beers, a selfie with the couple who got engaged at one of her gigs, Groovin’ the Moo dressing room, nuggets, girlfriend, blurry live photo timestamped 3:06am, [redacted], nuggets.

It’s been over five years since Hope got her start posting YouTube videos which featured her live-looping set-up and teenage bedroom, plastered with beer coasters and gig tickets. Her confessional coming-of-age anthems have resulted in successful gambits in the Queensland Music Awards and triple j’s Hottest 100 Countdown, where her song “Second” was ranked #69 in 2021 (nice).

While her audience has grown exponentially since the days of playing to her parents and the family dog, Mr Schneebly, Hope remains bashful on stage, now joined by her five-piece band. Her debut album, “Clash of the Substance”, is a time capsule of battles won, lost and drawn in the arena of her early twenties. Due out on February 10, and followed by a string of national tour dates, the record contains an important reminder for listeners: never let growing up get in the way of a good story.

Neesha Alexander

Neesha Alexander went on a mission to become a Ballroom DJ when she realised no one in the Meanjin scene was playing Ballroom beats or was even familiar with DJing a Ball. This proud Samoan trans woman graduated from quivr DJ school in 2021 and since then, she’s played for the House of Alexander Vogue Nights and the Alexander Ball and co-produces Fem Fale with David Murphy.

Paulina is an 18-year-old singer and songwriter who has marked her place in the Australian soul pop scene, having won a Queensland Music Award in 2022.

Born in Germany and raised in Australia, music has always been a large part of her life, when from a young age she began learning the guitar, saxophone and voice. Frequently asked what she wanted to use her musical talent for, Paulina found an answer for herself: writing her own music. These songs are not only an emotional outlet, but also serve to inspire and resonate with other people’s lives.

Paulina combines her musical knowledge with her lyricism to reflect on her innermost feelings and comment on pressing zeitgeist themes which often weigh on her mind. She has the ability to write uniquely emotive songs and captures the true essence of her subjects in her purest performances, drawing inspiration from her idols Jorja Smith and Joy Crookes.

Since graduating high school at the end of 2022, she has travelled through Europe, producing her debut EP, which is set to be released in August of 2023.

Scalymoth (Prianka, she/her) is a Meanjin-based DJ and producer smiling her way through the electronic scene. Since beginning her DJ journey in 2020 on a Covid lockdown whim, Scalymoth has become a staple on dancefloors across Meanjin and airwaves across the globe, fuelled by her passion for music and ever-broadening taste. With support slots under her belt such as X Club, Yung Singh, DJ Swisha, Nikki Nair, UNIIQU3, Overmono and Skin on Skin, Scalymoth is a force to be reckoned with. Scalymoth released her 3rd track, ‘Strawberry Watermelon’, in March 2023 and has plenty of new music on the way for the rest of the year. She is also a co-founder of Australia-based South Asian collective, Kerfew, and is one of the Kerfew Radio hosts.
